Teaching students to learn how to read and spell the English language, meaning without asking the learners to memorize words is not easy because English is a complex language. The words from the English language come from different sources and languages such as the Old and Middle English, Latin and French, etc., — each has its phonology, structure, rule, strategy, and technique.
In addition, with close to a million words and counting and has the largest vocabulary and is still growing, the English language has many variants and has one of the most complex alphabetic orthographies. Therefore, the training, workshops, and courses on how to teach reading, spelling, and comprehension even for teachers must be divided into different levels so that it will not be too difficult and too overwhelming for the participants. Some trainees might still need refresher courses, additional sessions, consultations, and supervision to be able to reach proficiency levels.
Furthermore, with the hope of working together for the benefit of struggling students, we have created the Multisensory Orton-Gillingham Classroom Educators group on Facebook to connect with fellow classroom educators who have the training from us for further help, support, discussions, sharing strategies, etc. because we believe that

Together, we can make the impossible, possible!

Our goal is simple: we will teach you the best and the most effective reading and spelling skills from our more than nine years of 100% success literacy intervention, remediation, and prevention, therefore we will only dedicate an hour or two but not 30 hours explaining the Orton-Gillingham principles, current research for Orton-Gillingham practitioners, an in-depth explanation about dyslexia etc., because you can purchase books to learn more about the latter topics.

This eight-hour training is the foundation for learning to read, write, spell, and comprehend typically taught in kindergarten, grade one, and grade two, but also necessary for older students if they struggle to read, spell, and comprehend. Although it is ideal for kindergarten, grade one, grade two, special needs teachers, and paraprofessionals who do not have the background about the Orton-Gillingham typical method and how the English language system works, other educators can also learn and take this level.

It can be applied in a regular classroom setting and can also be taught in remedial groups as large as 10 to 15 struggling students with mild and severe varying language difficulties, the same as how our Reading Specialist was doing before with a 100% success rate and she can show you how to do it.

At the end of the training, participants should be able to teach students with at least low cognitive ability and with intact vision and hearing to read and spell closed syllable, one-syllable words including the exceptions to the closed syllable, meaning without asking the students to memorize words
